Trashface Books
"No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting." - Mary Wortley, Lady Montagu
Trashface believes in cheap books and no hidden charges.
To this end Trashface has the following aims:
- 1. To keep the price of each book as low as possible.
- 2. To maintain free shipping worldwide.
- 3. To produce its books in the least wasteful manner possible.
At the present time if you buy a book on a secondhand book website for €1.50, you will
preobably be hit with between €8 and €12 of shipping, putting the total cost of your item
at well over €10(USD$15.20). On some websites you won't even see that charge until
you actually checkout and have already entered your payment details.
On Trashface you will pay an average of €9 per book, including all shipping costs - worldwide.
There are NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES WHATSOEVER.
Of the price you pay to a secondhand book website 0% goes to the original author, 55% goes to the website and 45% goes to the secondhand vendor.
The secondhand vendor has their own costs out of that 45%. Effectively, therefore, you are paying
more than you have to for a transaction that ends up filling the pockets of the channel
owner (i.e. the website).
Trashface is a publisher which means that the books we produce reward their original
authors (based on a normal royalty arrangement) and the profits go into producing more books -
new works as well as reprints. It also goes into promoting these authors and letting
people know about their work.
So we're cheaper and we're more productive.
